GLOBAL COOLING!

As for combating global warming one might ask, “What global warming?” According to satellite measurements, temperatures in 2008 were colder than in 1980 and 1981. So in spite of 100’s of millions more cars on the road and thousands of more coal power plants being used than in 1980 the temperature is colder. If co2 causes warming how can it be colder now than 28 years ago?

Here’s a chart for satellite temperature measurements from 1979 to 2008.

University of Alabama professor John Christy who has studied world temperatures via satellite for 30 years stated in Dec 2008: "variations in global temperatures since 1978 ... cannot be attributed to carbon dioxide." Dr. Christy was one of the UN Scientist’s that won the Nobel Prize along with the opportunist Al Gore.

Last winter China recorded its coldest winter in at least 50 years. Here in Chicago, this winter is five degrees below normal, the coldest since 1981 and the 10th coldest ever recorded. Ironically on Oct 28th Great Britain’s Parliament passed a law mandating reduced co2 to combat global warming during the first snowstorm to hit London since 1934.  And in the Southern hemisphere Buenos Aires had its first snow since 1919.

Finally, in December the US Senate Environment and Commerce Committee issued a 233 page Minority Report (see here) by 650 international scientists disputing the co2 warming hypothesis. Compare those numbers with the 52 scientists who contributed to the UN’s IPCC Summary Report that claimed 90% of global warming was caused by human activity. If consensus is important then it appears to be on the side of the non-believers.

So if the Obama administration really believes in “transparency” and the end of “politicized science” why did the President meet with Al Gore instead of Professor Christy and some of the 650 scientists that signed onto the Senate report?

The obvious answer is: Global Warming is political ideology not scientific argument.

The argument that placing plant food (co2) into the atmosphere causes dangerous global warming is scientifically unsupportable and hostile to the future of billions of the worlds poor who desperately need the cheap energy provided by fossil fuels. China, India and other poor countries understand this.

The world will be a better place when “progressives” understand it too.

well,, ive just enjoyed the warmest winter ive ever seen,,, not only did it not freeze,, it didnt even come close,,, (well,, maybe once i can remember for a low at night) (freezing),,, (within 5 degrees anyway,,, dont know if it happened, i was asleep)

plant food,,, i have nothing against,,, i have a lot of plants surrounding my house which wards off the sun in the summer,,,summer here of course brings almost unbearable heat,,, but thats nothing new,,, im kind of in a hole here i think.

you know how studies go,,, they are usually wrong,,,

ears has some plans to combat global warming,,, at a great cost,,, i wonder whos gonna pay for it??? and im sitting here thinking,,,, maybe this co2 floating around is the earths way of attempting to correct itself,,,,, and were gonna correct it?

my opinion of the whole matter,,, if 100 people believe global warming is the end times and its swooping in on us now,,, and 100 people believe it is hogwash,,,, (and all 200 capable of conducting stufies on the subject)

then the whole matter is political and irrelevant,,,,

irrelevant that is until the bill starts to come in for the correction,,,,,

yea,, global warming is a danger to us all,,, but it has nothing to do with hot or cold,,,,,

great postie!.......i never thought it was a global warming and was a political thing ....so i wonder what they would say if this really got out in the media and national programs/news like 20/20 and some of those other ones!! So we are colder now than present years!!! 1980 &1981 not to mention what other years there has been.

Global warming has become a gigantic business. Al Gore, for one, has made millions of dollars by selling carbon offsets. Just think of the billions of dollars given out in government grants and incentives to study reduction of carbon emissions and other kooky endeavors.

We and our children will be paying for all of this!

You have to see that something is amiss though, surely. I think we can rightly say that we see disturbing weather pattern changes. Global "DIMMING", as I've heard it, caused by pollutants in the air as well as volcanic ash, et al., actually causes global cooling, or at least in places. Professionals have said that, alas, if we rid the world of hotspot air pollution, that we would probably endure regular occurances of weather so hot that we literally couldn't survive it. Catch 22! If you check out global dimming, let me know for sure what you find out!

ps I think I want one of your Great Pyrannies when ever  can get back to the country! They seem awesome. Hope I come across one of them around here. take care

I do believe in global warming, but don't really think there is too much we can do about it.  This was once a very warm planet, I believe... tropical even in my area, back in the day of dinosaurs and such.  Then came an ice age and things got cold.  I think we're just (slowly) reverting back to the planet's original state.  At least, that makes sense to me.

Whether or not we are accelerating it or not, I don't know.  It would stand to reason though, that we have some effect... don't know how we couldn't.  Cause-Effect, Newton's Third Law... whatever...

And of course it's political.  Everything is policital.  Which is exceptionally annoying, isn't it?
